Doha Awar:
I am in my personal space (red room), eyes emerge from my imagination. I combine photography, video and personal portraits, merging the eye and the soul over red walls. At night, the threads of my imagination begin to draw a colorful but opaque feather. My mother’s hand gently touches my face and I laugh, imprinting my face in the pillowcase. My body is immersed in bathwater and my breath rises and falls. I feel tired and helpless. I break apart my images to reconstruct them as a new collage piece. My identity and who I am, pink light that breaks but still has soul, an hourglass and words in between, does the color red define who I am? My work combines various materials, such as watercolor (gouache), ink, colored sand and common household items, and different techniques, such as printing and scanning.
