Behind the Tent is an interactive installation that merges storytelling, music, and play. Using a custom-built arcade-style controller designed especially for the project, the “player” is invited to participate in the work – to play, improvise and compose the music as it unfolds from a story of an encounter between human and nature.

The piece incorporates recordings of various instruments, played using extended techniques, and it gives the player the ability to influence the sonic material.

It invites the audience on an inward journey of reflection, and connection to the inner child, through which anyone can become an active part of the work: to create, to play, and to listen to themselves.

✸ The piece will be played as part of the New Music Department’s Output Events, on July 23-24. Admission is free with advance registration ‣ Wednesday 23.7 / Thursday 24.7

Tutor: Omer Goldberg | Drums, percussion, trumpet, electric guitar, recorder, and chichaks: Adam Cohen | Electric guitar: Amit Naftalovich | Photography: Shira Brenner | The girl: Orot Maor | Special thanks to Amir Boltzman, the wolf, the moon, and my dear mother
