An EP woven from walking, from listening to the movement the world.
I record. Record record record record record record record. Shhhhh… I’m a part of the recording, part of the world.
Time and place are pulled into the recording device. Beep.
Why is it that being in a foreign place makes my own strangeness feel familiar, comforting? I can lean into it, hold it naturally.
And yet, whenever I feel the same strangeness in a familiar place, I reject it, try to push it away?
I wanted to trace a walk, because I can.

Some people can’t
some people got lost trying to cross borders which are lines
separating states, countries, desires.
The recordings are my raw material.
I listen.
I piece them into a collage, a kind of sonic journal, documentary music.
I shall add words, voice, space, movement, sounds, electronic instruments, and I shall double, and cut, and… and… and… I shall also bring headphones in order to listen.
✸ The piece will be played as part of the New Music Department’s Output Events, on July 23-24. Admission is free with advance registration ‣ Wednesday 23.7 / Thursday 24.7
