A music piece for flute and octophonic electronics
With the participation of Snir Kaduri
“Music… is a memory bank for finding one’s way about the world.” — Bruce Chatwin
The work is inspired by a continuous movement experienced by the author in recent years. The poetics of an endless path and transition, emerge as an alternative to the way home.
Based on recordings from different times and places — Kola Peninsula, Judean Desert, Caucasus Mountains, Makhtesh Ramon — the piece explores the dialogue between an acoustic instrument and multi-channel electronics.
The electronics create the dimension of an endless route, transforming and reflecting the sounds once found along the way. Responding to what is happening around, the flute creates melodic lines that pave the way for a new transition. This feedback loop creates a line of infinite motion, reflecting a reality where new worlds unfold along the way.
✸ The piece will be performed as part of the New Music Department’s Output Events, on July 23-24. Admission is free with advance registration ‣ Wednesday 23.7 / Thursday 24.7
